Vintage Haunted Houses

A dear friend recently gave me a bag of 1920's photographs, that included many house pictures. I was unsure as to what to do with them until Halloween inspired me- haunted houses! The homes certainly looked creepy enough to be haunted, and with vintage typewriter text stamps, they are labeled accordingly. Perfect for Halloween decorating or to make into "Welcome to your new Home" cards (Ha!) vintage house photos are usually very inexpensive and easy to find, so have fun making them, or buy mine (shameless marketing plug) at http://VintageScraps.etsy.com/

Craft a Vintage storybook Paper Wreath

Time consuming but worth it, give new life to a falling apart book by using its pages in a hand rolled wreath! Remove the pages- easy if the spine is missing or broken, roll and secure with tape or glue, and fasten the pages to a circle of heavy cardstock or card board. This one was made from a children's book and 1950's UNC dorm directory pages, and was featured on etsy.com's front page, which was very exciting :)

Re-purposed Valentine Candy Boxes

My tall, dark, and handsome husband is a lavish and unique gift giver, who often surprises me with flowers (and once a cake!) delivered to my door on Valentine's day. Last year I recieved a classic, giant heart shaped box of candies, which I saved (not the candy, just the box) knowing it had to become something else one day. So here it is, a "tacky in a good way" as my daughter stated, vintage Valentine assemblage.
This one is for sale at VintageScraps.etsy.com
or perhaps you should buy yourself a box, eat the contents with a cup of good coffee, and decorate for Valentine's day. (My youngest informed me yesterday that this box was purchased at a gas station, in case you're wondering where to find one. I think my husband is slipping!!)

A Simple Christmas: decorating your home when time, patience, and money are lacking!

After Christmas, 75% off little trees deocorate the bath and foyer. Vintage Christmas postcards (literally shoved on the tree- I was in a hurry!) can be found on etsy, ebay, and in junkie antique shops for a dollar or two. Oragimi boxes (okay, these take a little patience!) made from vintage sheet music add fun to a bowl of 75%off ornaments from Pottery Barn, along with a giant jingle bell, which was also on sale (of course!) at a local boutique.
