A Vintage Hello for Mom

One of my favorite finds ever was a 1890's scrapbook filled with advertising art! So I copied some of the fragile images to use in making collage Mother's Day Cards. They are pictured here, along with a 1940's cereal ad card, and a journal crafted from The Farmer's Wife graphic. Very fun for a mom!

You'd think after living in the South for 16 years, I'd be nicer, partial to grits and sweet tea, saying "y'all" and "might could." But I just haven't shaken my Chicago suburban roots, loaded with dry sarcasm and nasal tones, partial to the Bears, unsweetened tea, and cold weather. So here is my real self; the dreamy cottage pinks are really just a front!

1950's Madame Alexander (a.k.a. Bridge is the new Poker!)

My first contact with Madame Alexander's delightful dolls was her collection of Little Women, property of my older sister, which I was not allowed to touch, but of course did! They were beautifully crafted and delightful to the eyes. This bit of original 1957 vintage pictured was one of many ads from a collaborative between Madame Alexander and Yardley perfume, featured in Ladies Home Journal magazines, and is for sale until I come to my senses and keep her for myself!
