Late Summer Cottage

When you think of cottages "New Jersey" isn't exactly the first place that comes to mind! But historic Hopewell NJ is home to one of my favorite cottages, my sister-in-law Amy's home. And even though it's home to one patient husband, 6 kids, a zoo of cats and a dog (!) it nonetheless remains lovely and charming, and, as seen by these interior shots, rather peaceful. (The journal and clipboard were inspired by Amy's house, and the outdoor pics were taken on Cape Cod- more to come on that)

Everyone has at least one box of family "stuff" that's not glamorous enough to rate an expensive shadow box, yet is important enough to keep. Old phone bills for $2.50, bent up photos, needle packs, war ration books, dress patterns; save them from the dark attic! Have quality copies made and collage your family history onto a journal, perfect for your thoughts or lists, or to send to school with your kids. Here are some examples. Now go have fun!

A Peach of a Weekend

One of my wonderful nieces was married a few weeks ago, in a tiny town in the middle of Georgia. Very simple, very lovely, and in perfect harmony with the rustic surroundings. The wedding favors were local peaches, hand picked at Dicky's Peaches across the street from the church, and where the groom worked during his summer vacations.
